Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry expects to make his return sometime during the second round of the playoffs, assuming the Golden State Warriors get that far, according to a report Friday by Yahoo Sports.
The second-seeded Warriors, who lost three of four to end the regular season, face the San Antonio Spurs in the first round.
Curry, sidelined since March 23, suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his first game back from an ankle injury and is progressing on schedule in his rehab from the injury.
“I haven’t had any setbacks,” Curry told the San Jose Mercury News earlier this week. “So that’s the positive, every day has been something good, advancing the rehab process. I’m looking forward to making more progress as we get towards the playoffs.”
Per the Warriors, Curry is scheduled to be re-evaluated Saturday. He was on the court prior to Sunday’s game in Phoenix, working on his jumper. While he didn’t give a specific return date then, he did signal progress in his rehab process.
“It’s been an interesting two weeks so far,” Curry said during the 20-minute interview. “Just trying to get some rhythm, some strength back, some flexibility, range of motion, all that type of stuff.”
Curry did note the depth of the Western Conference playoffs will present a serious challenge for the defending champions. Houston clinched the top seed in the conference.
“At the end of the day, we know what it takes,” Curry said. “We’re a championship team, a championship pedigree.”
