In the fourth, both teams scored 16 points in the final 10 minutes. Brazil scored a three-pointer in the final minute to pull within two points, but the host country couldn't finish the comeback in time.

"It was a great tough game, as it always is when playing Brazil," said Ayim. "We grinded out the match and got some key possessions towards the end. We worked together and really played as a team to get the win on their homecourt."

Canada also defeated Argentina and Puerto Rico at the four-team tournament ahead of the FIBA Americas Championship for Women that runs Sept. 21-28 in Xalapa, Mexico.

Canada opens the tournament against Jamaica on Sept. 22.
