Canadian basketball star Andrew Wiggins was named the 2013 Naismith Trophy winner for Boy's High School Player of the Year Award in the United States on Monday.

Wiggins of Vaughan, Ont., is averaging 23.6 points, 11.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.4 steals and 2.1 blocks per game for Huntington Prep in Huntington, W.Va.

The 6-foot-8 forward is the most highly rated NCAA basketball recruit of the year. Wiggins has reportedly narrowed his collegiate options to Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina and Florida State, and he's pegged to be the top pick in the 2014 NBA draft.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper congratulated Wiggins on Twitter on Monday, saying: "Just heard the news that the best High School basketball player in the United States is Canadian Andrew Wiggins. Congratulations @22wiggins!"
