But he was notorious for this incident in 1976 when, as a Detroit Red Wing, he banged Maple Leaf Brian Glennie's head against the ice after Glennie was unconscious. Glennie was hospitalized with a concussion. Maloney was charged with assault causing bodily harm, but acquitted.
