The Montreal Alouettes re-signed veteran slotback Jamel Richardson to a three-year contract Friday.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Richardson recorded his fifth-straight 1,000-yard season with Montreal in 2012. A two-time CFL all-star, he had a team-high 63 catches for 1,016 yards and five TDs in 15 games.

"Jamel has obviously flourished in an Alouettes uniform," Alouettes' GM Jim Popp said in a statement. "When we play teams, he is a force to be reckoned with.

"Though he had an off-year last season (due to injuries), we expect Jamel to continue his climb as one of the best in the CFL."

Richardson, 31, has registered 454 catches for 6,401 yards and 43 TDs in five seasons with Montreal. He has won two Grey Cups with the Alouettes (2009-'10) and was named the MVP of the 2010 CFL championship game.
