Adriano Belli is getting a retirement gift from the CFL — and he won't like it.

The league announced Friday that the recently retired Toronto Argonauts defensive lineman will be fined an undisclosed amount for rough play during the 100th Grey Cup.

Belli was ejected in the third quarter of the Argonauts' 35-22 win over Calgary last Sunday for grabbing and twisting the arm of Calgary centre Jon Gott.

That was essentially the end of Belli's career. He came out of retirement during the season to help shore up the Argos' defence and hung up his cleats again after the Grey Cup.

Belli's roughness wasn't limited to the Stampeders' offensive line. He also broke the Grey Cup during the Argos' victory celebration.
