The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have acquired quarterback Josh Portis from the Toronto Argonauts in exchange for a conditional draft pick.

Portis spent the 2013 season with the Argos, mainly on the injured list, dressing for just one game against the B.C. Lions but failing to see any action. Prior to that Portis was on the Seattle Seahawks practice roster.

Portis played one season at Florida in 2005, three years at Maryland and two seasons at California University of Pennsylvania, where he set a school record in 2009, throwing for 3,421 yards and 36 touchdowns.

Portis becomes the fourth quarterback on the Blue Bombers roster behind starter Drew Willy, joining Brian Brohm, Robert Marve and Mason Mills, who was added to the team's practice roster on Monday.

Mills led the University of San Diego to an 8-3 record in 2013, throwing for 3,463 yards, 35 touchdowns and only five interceptions on his way to being named Player of the Year in the Pioneer Football League.

The Blue Bombers put their 3-0 record on the line Thursday night against the league's other undefeated squad, the Edmonton Eskimos.
