Austin Kennedy threw for six touchdowns as the No. 10 Windsor Lancers hammered the Ottawa Gee Gees 63-18 in Canadian University Sports football action Monday.

Kennedy found Jordan Brescacin in the end zone three times, including a 55-yard strike to open the scoring less than five minutes into the first quarter.

Evan Pszczonak, Mark Riggi and Dylan Whitfield also had receiving touchdowns for Windsor, while Gilbert Stewart and Mitch Dender added scores in the ground.

Kennedy completed 31-of-41 pass attempts for 482 yards and threw no interceptions.

Elsewhere, McMaster routed Guelph 50-9 and Western thumped Waterloo 54-10, Toronto defeated Laurier 19-0 and Queen's dumped York 48-13.

No. 10 Windsor 63, Ottawa 18

At Windsor, Ont., Brescacin finished with 214 receiving yards for Windsor (1-0), while Pszczonak added 129.

Mack Tommy and Franck Ngandui had rushing touchdowns for Ottawa (0-1).

Ottawa quarterback Aaron Colbon struggled, completing just six passes on 16 attempts for 122 yards. His running game was more successful as he had game-high 84 rushing yards.

No. 1 McMaster 50 Guelph 9

At Hamilton, Ont., Kyle Quinlan was threw three touchdown passes as the Marauders (1-0) thrashed the Gryphons (0-1). Robert Babic caught two of the touchdown passes and finished with 165 yards receiving.

No. 5 Western 54 Waterloo 10

At Waterloo, Ont., Garret Sanvido rushed for three touchdowns and brother Justin Sanvido hauled in two more through the air as the Mustangs (1-0) dumped the Warriors (0-1).

No. 6 Queen's 48 York 13

At Kingston, Ont., Ryan Granberg rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns and Alex Carroll returned a punt 79 yards for a TD for the Gaels (1-0), who cruised by the Lions (0-1).

Granberg scored twice in the first quarter, as the Gaels led 19-0 after 15 minutes. It was 35-0 at the half, and Queen's led by as many as 42 points before York scored twice in the late stages.

Toronto 19, Laurier 0

At Toronto, Richard Quittenton threw for 157 yards and ran for two touchdowns as the Varsity Blues (1-0) defeated the visiting Golden Hawks (0-1) for the first time since 1996.

Rookie running back Ashton Nelson carried 25 times for 119 yards for Toronto.

No. 2 Laval 33, McGill 15

At Quebec, Boris Bede, a native of Toulon, France, scored 17 points, including a 5-for-5 performance in field-goal attempts on Sunday as the No.2-ranked Laval Rouge et Or rallied to defeat McGill 33-15 in Canadian Interuniversity Sport football action.

It marked the 52nd straight victory at home for Laval (1-0), the nine-time defending RSEQ conference champions. They trailed 9-7 after the opening quarter, led 19-9 at the half and 24-12 after three quarters.

McGill (0-1), which officially kicked off their 132nd season, got all of their points from rookie kicker Samy Rassy, an engineering junior from Montreal who was also 5-for-5 in field goals in his CIS debut.

It marked the eighth time in McGill history that a Redmen place-kicker had made five in a game and it was one field-goal shy of the single-game school record held by Glenn Miller since 1984.

The game was a defensive struggle with McGill generating only 170 yards of offence compared to 318 by Laval.

Rassy staked the Redmen to a 9-0 lead on field-goals from 42, 18 and 26 yards before the Laval offence awoke. He added a 28-yarder in the third and a 37-yard effort in the final quarter.

Rouge et Or quarterback Tristan Grenon of Quebec City completed 18 of 31 passes for only 160 yards. He connected for a pair of touchdowns, however, and was picked off once.

Grenon ignited the comeback by hooking up with Yannick Morin-Plante of Drummondville, Que., for a 24-yard TD strike on the last play of the opening quarter then found Maxime Boutin of Quebec City alone in the endzone for an 11-yard TD toss to put Laval ahead 17-9 with four minutes remaining in the first half.

A couple of safeties conceded in the endzone made it 21-9 for Laval early in the second half.

Six consecutive field goals rounded out the scoring, including four by Bede, who had registered a 27-yard field-goal early in the second. He also hit from distances of 39, 32 and 31, respectively, to make it 30-12., then added his fifth in the final minute of the game from 41 yards out.

Sophomore Dallon Kuprowski of Kanata, Ont., started at quarterback for the Redmen and completed 17 of 30 attempts for 145 yards. he was temporarily relieved by Jonathan Collin of Greenfield Park, Que., who was picked off on his first play from scrimmage and ended up 0-for-3 on the day.

SATURDAY

Kris Bastien had 242 receiving yards and hauled in two touchdown passes from Reid Quest, including a 103-yard strike in the second quarter, and Concordia beat Bishop's 42-36 in Canadian Interuniversity Sport football action Saturday.

Bastien also caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Quest to open the scoring.

Michael Donnelly rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns, while Troy McCusker also scored for the Stingers (1-0) on a two-yard run.

Quest completed 17 of 31 pass attempts for 339 yards, and was intercepted once.

David Haddrall led Bishop's with three touchdowns on 159 receiving yards. Receiver Nathan Heather had the other touchdown for the Gaiters (0-1).

Elsewhere in CIS football, it was: Manitoba 31 UBC 24; Calgary 37 Regina 21; and Montreal 38 Sherbrooke 14.

At Montreal, Bishop's quarterback Jordan Heather was 29-of-54 for 387 yards and four touchdowns, but he was also picked off four times.

Concordia takes on Montreal next weekend, while Bishop's faces Laval.

Bisons 31 No. 7 Thunderbirds 24

At Vancouver, running back Nic Demski ran in a six-yard touchdown run at 10:25 of the fourth quarter to lift Manitoba over UBC.

A two-point convert made the score 31-17.

UBC quarterback Billy Greene connected with receiver Micha Theil for a 28-yard touchdown pass at 13:00 of the fourth quarter to close to within seven.

Greene completed 16 of 32 passes for UBC (0-1) and threw for two touchdowns.

Manitoba (1-0) quarterback Cam Clark was 13 of 24 with an interception.

The T-birds next visit the Regina Cougars on Sept. 7, while Manitoba (1-0) will host its home opener on Sept. 8 against the Saskatchewan Huskies.

No. 3 Dinos 37 Rams 21

At Calgary, Eric Dzwilewski threw 293 yards for two touchdowns and Steven Lumbala rushed for 152 yards and two TDs as the Dinos opened their season with a win over Regina.

Johnny Mark went 2-for-4 on field goals for Calgary.

Rams quarterback Marc Mueller went 32-for-48 for 344 yards and one touchdown.

At Sherbrooke, Que., Alexandre Nadeau-Piuze went 23-for-31 for 401 yards and three touchdowns as Montreal eased by the Vert & Or.
