JC Sherritt's thumb woes continue.

The Edmonton Eskimos announced Friday the stalwart middle linebacker is out indefinitely after re-fracturing his left thumb.

The club said the injury occurred during Saturday's 47-25 loss to the Montreal Alouettes.

Sherritt, the CFL's outstanding defensive player last season, initially fractured his thumb in a 30-29 loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Aug. 2.

He required surgery that forced him to miss four games before returning to the club.
