The B.C. Lions, already riding a wave of optimism after back-to-back wins, have added big piece to their puzzle.

Last season's outstanding Canadian, defensive end Ricky Foley, has re-joined the team after a couple of unsuccessful auditions in the NFL.

Foley, a free agent who finished tied for the lead with 12 sacks last season, had narrowed his choices down to the Lions and Toronto Argonauts.

The 28-year-old is yet another quality Canadian added to the Lions roster on the heals of the team signing offensive lineman Joe McGrath, trading for offensive lineman Jesse Newman and adding fullback Rolly Lumbala who, like Foley, had been trying to make the NFL.

BC is where I made my start, made great friendships and won a championship in 2006; I couldn't imagine playing anywhere else," said Foley in a statement released by the Lions. "The core of the Lions is still a very strong team, I can't wait to get back on the field and help contribute in any way I can and play in front of the CFL's best fans."

B.C. has a 3-7 record and remains in pursuit of a West Division playoff spot.

Foley was signed during the off-season by the Seattle Seahawks, cut in August and briefly picked up by the New York Jets.
