Running back Fred Jackson signed a one-year contract extension with the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday.

Jackson is signed through 2015. The veteran running back has established himself as a leader and top playmaker for the Bills. He has 5,121 yards rushing and 28 touchdowns in seven seasons.

Known for his physical running style, Jackson ran for 890 yards and nine touchdowns in 2013 while dealing with two separate knee sprains. Jackson is expected to split carries with running back C.J. Spiller once again in 2014.

Jackson entered the NFL as a member of Buffalo's practice squad in 2006 as an undrafted free agent.
