The Calgary Stampeders will have a new president this season now that veteran CFL administrator Lyle Bauer has stepped down.
Bauer's resignation was announced Wednesday by the team as a result of "ownership restructuring that took place in the spring of 2012." Almost a year ago, the Calgary Flames purchased a majority stake in the Stampeders adding to their other investments, the Western Hockey League Hitmen and the National Lacross League Roughnecks.
"Lyle's decision to leave was based primarily on a significant change in roles and responsibilities given the benefits of new ownership synergy and infrastructure efficiency," Stampeders' co-chairman John Forzani said in a statement.
Bauer, who joined the Stampeders in 2010 after serving as president of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, will stay on in Calgary to ensure "a smooth executive transition," according to a news release.
There was no word as to who will replace him.
