Both the Calgary Stampeders and Edmonton Eskimos made trades Wednesday in preparation for Friday's showdown at Commonwealth Stadium.

The Stampeders traded import defensive lineman Torrey Davis to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for future considerations while the Eskimos sent import receiver Greg Carr to the Saskatchewan Roughriders for Canadian offensive lineman Matthew O'Donnell.

O'Donnell was selected by the 'Riders in the second round of the 2011 Canadian Football League draft but chose to sign with the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals where he spent the 2011 season on the practice roster. The former Queen's University product was recently released by the Bengals.

Eskimos' general manager Eric Tillman said in a statement, "The best trades help both clubs. We thank Greg for his contributions to the Eskimos and wish him well in Saskatchewan where he gives the Riders a big target to complement their current receiving corps."

Carr, a free-agent signing by Edmonton, had 19 catches for 214 yards and a touchdown this season.

The Stampeders defeated Edmonton on Labour Day in Calgary. The two teams are 5-4 in the West Division.
