Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Dan LeFevour will miss the rest of the CFL season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

LeFevour suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of a 30-20 loss to the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday.

"I'm disappointed for Dan, who was playing at a very high level for us this year," Ticats head coach Kent Austin said Tuesday in a statement. "He is a man of great character and a tremendous competitor with a tireless work ethic, so we know he'll return stronger than ever after finishing his rehabilitation."

LeFevour threw for 1,670 yards and four touchdowns this season. He also rushed for 314 yards and four touchdowns.

He will undergo knee surgery in the coming weeks, the team said.

The 27-year-old native of Downers Grove, Ill., started the season as a backup before replacing Zach Collaros, who was added to the six-game injured list with head and back injuries after the second game of the year.

In LeFevour's first career start, he led the Tiger-Cats to a 33-23 win over Ottawa and was named CFL offensive player of the week for his effort.
