The father of Hamilton Tiger-Cats third string quarterback Adam Tafralis was hospitalized Thursday when the family's home in San Bruno, Calif., was consumed in a fire resulting from an explosion in a gas line.

Tiger-Cats head coach Marcel Bellefeuille said Friday that Tafralis, a 27-year-old product of San Jose State, will be in uniform Saturday against the Montreal Alouettes at Ivor Wynne Stadium. He is expected to continue to handle duties as holder for field goals and converts.

Quinton Porter replaced Tafralis as the teams short-yardage quarterback earlier this season.

"He'll leave after the game and take as long as he needs to take care of things," Bellefeuille said.

Tafralis, who was born in Daly City Calif., and went to high school in Millbrae, Calif., was unavailable for comment Friday, but a Ticats spokesman said that Tafralis' father, Gregg, was not hospitalized with a life-threatening condition.
