Canada’s Brooke Henderson poses with the winner’s trophy after capturing the Junior Orange Bowl Championship

Brooke Henderson saved her best for last to capture individual honours at the 50th Junior Orange Bowl event in Coral Gables, Florida.

The 16-year-old Smiths Falls, Ont. golfer had six birdies and a back nine 34 on her way to a final round of 4-under 67 on Monday on the Biltmore Hotel course. Henderson finished five shots ahead of American Megan Khang for her fifth title of 2013.

"It's an awesome feeling," said Henderson, currently the sixth ranked amateur player in the world. "I came here with this in mind and I'm really pleased. Today I was finally able to get my putting working, compared to the first three days. I felt very comfortable on the greens all day."

The win caps off an incredibly successful year for Henderson, which includes the South American Amateur championship, the Canadian Women's Amateur Championship, a victory at the CN Future Links Pacific event and medalist honours at the Spirit International.
