Wil Collins made five consecutive birdies en route to winning the PGA Tour Canada's Dakota Dunes Classic in Saskatoon on Sunday.

It was a fitting streak for a tournament in which birdies came easily.

Collins of the United States shot six-under-par 66 at the Dakota Dunes Golf Links to finish the event at a staggering 21-under 267.

His birdie binge Sunday began at the seventh hole. He added two more at the 13th and 16th holes as he motored past third-round leader Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C.

Taylor, the former amateur star who's coming into his own as a pro after a couple of uneventful years, shared second spot with Ryan Yip of Calgary and American John Ellis.

The trio finished one stroke behind Collins, who collected his first title on the Canadian developmental circuit.

Taylor tied for fourth place at the tour's season opener in Victoria and after two events is the top Canadian. He has also dominated the Vancouver Golf Tour, winning four times and posting four runner-up finishes this season.

Collins, who once played on the PGA Tour (2009) and is trying to work his way back, earned $27,000 and moved into a share of the money list lead with fellow American Stephen Gangluff, who won the Victoria event.

The top five money winners at the end of the season earn promotions to the higher-level Tour.

"It means a lot," Collins told "We're all out here for the same reason, we want to get one of those Tour cards."
