Another solid showing by Canada's top female amateur, Brooke Henderson, saw the Smiths Falls, Ont., teen make one of the biggest leaps of her young golfing career following a tie for 26th at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, the first major of the LPGA season. Playing in just her second LPGA major, Henderson finished one stroke shy of being the top amateur in the tournament. Her result was good enough for a 166 place climb up the world rankings ladder, moving inside the top 300 and up to No. 4 among Canada's professional ranks. She trails only top ranked Rebecca Lee-Bentham, Alena Sharp and Lorie Kane. Henderson also climbed two places to No. 4 in the world amateur rankings.
Desptie a final round 76, Soo-Bin Kim finished in a tie for 10th at PING ASU Invitational as the Washington Huskies finished tied for second for their best result ever at the tournament. Kim, the No. 2 ranked amateur in Canada, picked up five places to No. 40 in the world.
Anne-Catherine Tanguay also finished tied for 10th at the PING ASU Invitational. The senior at Oklahoma led the Sooners, shooting a team-low 71 in the final round of the final regular season event of the season. The result helped her move up five spots in the world rankings to No. 43.
Delaney Howson made one of the biggest jumps of the week, picking up 39 spots in the world rankings following a tie for ninth at the Ole Miss Rebel Intercollegiate, moving her back into the top 10 in Canada from No. 14. The senior at Murrary State was also honoured as the Margaret Simmons Female Student Athlete of the Year. Howson is on her way to becoming a four-time All-Ohio Valley Conference pick and her stroke average of 73.3 leads the OVC and makes her a leading candidate to be the OVC Player of the Year for a second time. Howson has helped the Racers win two tournaments this season and has won three individual titles. During her career, she has been a part of nine regular season tournament titles, has won five individual titles and has earned an impressive 18 top-five finishes.
Adam Svensson continues to have the best golf season among Canadian amateur players, capturing a school-record sixth tournament victory at the Buccaneer Invitational. Svensson shot a tournament, course and school record 61 in the second round as Barry University equalled a school record with its fifth tournament title of the season. The 61 also put him in some elite company as Some of golf's greatest names, including legends Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead have also played Normandy Shores Golf Club, but none of them were able to match or lower that score. The sophomore from Surrey, B.C. was also named the Sunshine State Conference Men's Golfer of the Week for the third time this season. The result also moved Svensson up seven places in the world ranking to a career-best 34th.
Taylor Pendrith picked up two places in the world rankings to move to No. 31 after finishing tied for 16th at the Aggie Invitational, one stroke behind Kent State teammate and fellow Canadian Corey Conners who slipped five spots in the world rankings despite his performance.
Chris Hemmerich of the University of Guelph finished in a tie for 11th at the Terra Cotta Invitational. That helped the Kitchener, Ont. golfer climb 21 spots in the world rankings to a season best No. 215.
Charlie Hughes of Maple Ridge, B.C., move up 44 spots in the world rankings to go from No. 7 in Canada up to No. 5.
