Mark Murphy of Ireland has won the latest edition of Golf Channel's Big Break reality series, beating Julien Trudeau of Montreal in the season finale that aired Tuesday evening.
The 33-year-old Murphy, playing on home soil at The K Club in Staffan, Ireland, defeated Trudeau in 19 holes during a head-to-head match.
Trudeau, 30, a former Nationwide Tour player, was bidding to become the show's second Canadian champion in a row and third overall. David Byrne of Essex, Ont., was the last man standing in the previous season at Indian Wells, Calif., and Derek Gillespie of Oshawa, Ont., claimed the title in 2009 in Prince Edward Island.
Murphy and Trudeau were the last two survivors among the 12 men and women who competed in this edition.
Murphy took away $80,000 (U.S.) in cash and prizes and exemptions into two European Tour events, including the Irish Open.
