Stuart Anderson

Two more Canadians have advanced to the next stage of PGA Tour Q-school after three of four first stage qualifiers wrapped up on Saturday.

Stuart Anderson of Sooke, B.C., shot a bogey-free final round of 65 on Saturday at the Callaway Gardens Mountain View Golf Course in Pine Mountain, Georgia to finish in sixth place. Anderson's round included five birdies and an eagle on the par-5 16th for his best round of the week.

Over in Beaumont, California, David McKenzie of Georgetown, Ont., carded a final round 73 on Saturday at the Oak Valley Golf Club to finish tied for 14th. His four round total of 1-over par was just good enough to get him through to the next stage.

Cory Renfrew of Victoria, B.C., bogeyed his final hole and that was ultimately the difference in a disappointing round of 77 as he finished tied for 20th, one stroke off the cut line needed to advance to the next stage. Mitch Gillis of Williams Lake, B.C. also finished tied for 20th when a bogey on the second last hole left him with a round of 71. Brett Cairns (76) of Courtland, Ont., placed 54th while Ron Harvey Jr. (79) of Sussex, N.B., finished tied for 55th. Ryan Williams (79) of Surrey, B.C., was tied for 60th while Nathan Leonhardt (74) of Richmond, B.C., finished 65th.

FLORENCE, SC

David Morland IV of Aurora, Ont., carded a final round 73 on Saturday at the Florence Country Club to finish in a tie for 24th. However, he did not advance to the next stage after missing the cut by three strokes.

Will Mitchell's final round 70 left the Whitby, Ont., golfer in a tie for 28th while Toronto's David Lang finished in a tie for 66th after a round of 80.

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL

None of the three Canadians in action at the PGA Golf Club Wanamaker Course advanced past the first stage as play concluded Sunday. Renaud Langevin of Scott, Que., bounced back with a final round 74 which left him tied for 31st, six strokes off the cut line.  Robbie Greenwell of Georgetown, Ont., closed with a 72 to leave him tied for 39th while Billy Houle of Joliette, Que., withdrew before the start of the final round.

On Friday, Mitch Evanecz of Red Deer, Alta. Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C., Wes Heffernan of Calgary, Dave Levesque of Sainte-Catherine, Que., and Montreal's Yohann Benson all advanced to the next stage at their respective qualifiers.
