Roy Halladay has food for thought, even without Cliff Lee starting tomorrow night's first game of the World Series for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Halladay is mulling over his future with the Toronto Blue Jays after a dinner meeting last week in Florida with the Jays interim president and chief executive officer, Paul Beeston. Halladay's wife, Brandi, and agent Greg Landry also attended.

"It's one of those things where you need to have a first meeting in order to have the second meeting," Beeston said yesterday. "The first meeting isn't always meaningful but without it you don't have the second. It was kind of a love-in."

Halladay says his first preference would be to win a World Series title with the Blue Jays. He was put publicly on the trade block by former general manager J.P. Ricciardi this summer and is still effectively on it. The Phillies were one of the teams interested then, acquiring Lee instead. But the Blue Jays are also said to be prepared to discuss an extension with their ace.
