Montreal Canadiens great Jean Beliveau remained in hospital Wednesday, two days after suffering a stroke.

Team spokesman Donald Beauchamp said there was no new information on the 80-year-old Hall of Famer's condition.

The family has requested privacy.

The former star centre, who won 10 Stanley Cups with the Canadiens, was admitted to hospital after having the stroke Monday evening.

The NHL team said Beliveau was being examined and undergoing treatment.
