A family spokeswoman has confirmed the death of Gervais Munger, an administrator with a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team.

Dominique Savard said police divers found his body in a lake about 250 kilometres northwest of Quebec City on Monday.

The 52-year-old Munger was a co-administrator of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and played for the team in the 1970s.

He went missing on Saturday when he was thrown from the Zodiac boat he was travelling in with three friends.

None of the four were wearing life-jackets, but all except Munger were able to swim to shore.

Savard said Munger's family was reeling but was relieved in some ways his body had been found.

"This is a second shock in 48 hours," Savard said in an interview.

"Saturday was a major shock and today is another one. But (there is relief) Mr. Munger has been found.

"This will allow everyone to start grieving."

Funeral details were still pending.
