The Montreal Canadiens say forward David Desharnais has a broken foot and will be out three weeks.

The Canadiens confirmed the injury on their verified Twitter account.

Desharnais was injured blocking a shot with his foot in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Arizona Coyotes and underwent X-rays after the game.

He has nine goals and 17 assists in 57 games this season.

The Canadiens have lost three straight heading into tonight's home game against Philadelphia.
