The Montreal Canadiens have offered restricted free agent defenceman P.K. Subban a two-year deal said to be worth $5.5-million, according to the French all-sports network RDS.
However, while the two sides are still talking about a new deal, Subban's management is said to be looking for a much longer term.
Subban made $875,000 last year in the final year of his entry level contract with the team after being taken in the second round of the 2007 Entry Draft.
Subban had seven goals and 29 assists in 81 games last season.
