The Canadian Olympic Committee announced today that Dan Church and three-time Olympic medalist Danielle Goyette will coach Canada's women as they vie for their fourth straight Olympic hockey gold medal in Sochi, Russia in 2014.

Church, 39, who has headed up York University's women's team for nine years, will act as head coach, while Goyette, 46, will be an assistant after leading the University of Calgary women's squad since 2007. The two coached Canada to a gold medal in April at the world women's hockey championships in Burlington, Vermont. Their American rivals had won the last four world championship titles.

Church and Goyette will coach the team during the 2013 and 2014 seasons, which also includes the 2013 world championships, which Canada will host in Ottawa next April.

It will be the first Olympic Games behind the bench for both coaches, although Goyette won two Olympic medals as a player, a silver at the 1998 Nagano Olympics and gold in Salt Lake in 2002 and Turin in 2006.

"We are excited that Dan and Danielle are returning to the Team Canada bench for the next two years, particularly after the success they had this season," said Scott Smith, shief operating o fficer, Hockey Canada.
