The 28-year-old had a 16-15-12 record in a career-high 45 games played for the Devils last season. He also had three shutouts and a 1.97 goals-against average, which ranked third in the NHL.

Schneider was acquired from Vancouver for the ninth-overall pick in the 2013 NHL draft on June 30, 2013.

The six-foot-two, 200-pound netminder has a career mark of 71-41-20 with 12 shutouts and a 2.12 GAA in 143 games with Vancouver and New Jersey. Along with Roberto Luongo, Schneider won the 2010-11 Jennings Trophy, given to the goalkeeper(s) having played a minimum of 25 games for the team with the fewest goals scored against.

Schneider also spent parts of three seasons, 2007-2010, with Vancouver's American Hockey League affiliate in Manitoba. He was named the league's best goaltender in 2009.

"With today's signing, we have solidified our goaltending for the present and the future," Devils president and general manager Lou Lamoriello said in a statement. "Cory demonstrated throughout the year what he could bring to our organization, both on and off the ice."

The Marblehead, Mass., native has represented the United States at the 2005 and 2006 world junior championships and the 2007 world championship.
