It turns out Calgary Flames' forward Curtis Glencross won't be testing the free-agent market after all.

Coming off a career scoring year, the 28-year-old veteran has signed a new contract with the National Hockey League Flames, who are expected to announce the deal Monday.

Glencross scored 24 goals this past season as a skilled and hard-skating winger. While his scoring was often streaky, he provided the Flames with a decent offensive threat after first-liners Alex Tanguay and Jarome Igina.

Tanguay, for the record, is another contractual matter for Calgary. He signed a one-year deal last summer and is headed for free agency on July 1. Tanguay and Iginla were in sync for most of the season with Tanguay finishing with 69 points, his best offensive total in five years.

The Flames have several other moves to make regarding free agents such as Anton Babchuk, Steve Staios and Brendan Morrison, who suffered a season-ending knee injury/

That acting general manager Jay Feaster is signing players to new contracts indicates he will remain on the job this coming season. Feaster took over when GM Darryl Sutter was asked to resign last Dec. 28.
