Multiple reports out of Montreal this morning indicate the Canadiens are bringing up flashy defenceman P.K. Subban for tonight's do-or-die Game 6, a pretty interesting call given the 20-year-old played just two games in the NHL this season.
Subban's been skating with the Hamilton Bulldogs in the AHL playoffs, but with Hamilton advancing past the Manitoba Moose this weekend, there's a small break in their schedule. The fact he had nine points in six first-round games likely didn't hurt either.
Montreal really misses Jaroslav Spacek right now as he battles a virus -- and with Marc-Andre Bergeron struggling with a league-worst minus-8 in only five games, the Habs are looking out of the box for a solution against the Capitals.
Bergeron's averaged 20 minutes a game in the series, fourth highest among blueliners, and well above the 15 minutes a game he played during the season. Expect him to either come out of the lineup altogether or for Subban to eat into his minutes in a big way.
A second-rounder in 2007, Subban's considered the Habs top prospect, and was one of the AHL's highest-scoring defencemen this year with 53 points in 77 games. He was also plus-46 -- second-best in the league.
And Montreal -- which has allowed 20 goals in five games in this series -- could use some of that magic tonight.
