Alex Tanguay would like to come back to Calgary and play for the Flames again. The team's acting general manager has said he'd like to see Tanguay back. At least one of the team's owners has said the same.

But even Tanguay, whose 69 points were a smooth fit with Flames' captain Jarome Iginla wasn't sure Monday where he'll be next season. The veteran winger is one of eight unrestricted free agents here and has no strong indication he'll be back.

"I had a meeting with Jay (Feaster, the acting GM) and some of the owners and they said they'd like me to come back," Tanguay said after finishing his exit meetings with the Flames' coaching staff. "I'm very thankful for the Flames to have given me that opportunity (this past season). But it is a business.

"Hopefully things work and you (media) guys to get to deal with me a little longer."

Tanguay had played for the Flames in 2007-08 before being traded to the Montreal Canadiens and then on to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He rejoined the Flames this past season and played alongside Iginla, helping him reach the 40-goal mark for the fourth time in his NHL career.

"I think Jarome needs someone to give him the puck. I tried to do that," said Tanguay. "If we ad played well in October and November he'd be the leading scorer."

As for his own situation, Tanguay added: "You always like stability in your life. Who knows? Maybe they (the Flames) are interested, maybe they're not. We'll see how everything works out."

The Flames are hard against the salary cap and have several contracts they'd love to unload in the hopes of resigning Tanguay.
