A bail hearing for former junior hockey coach Graham James has been adjourned until Friday when a date will be set for when it will resume next week.

James, 58, has applied for bail while he awaits trial on new sex charges in Winnipeg.

He faces nine charges stemming from alleged encounters with three boys between 1979 and 1994, including former NHL star Theo Fleury.

The Crown opposes the bail application and the defence was granted a publication ban on details of the charges.

James pleaded guilty in 1997 to hundreds of assaults on two teenage players, including NHLer Sheldon Kennedy, and was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison.

He was quietly pardoned a decade later and moved to Mexico, but turned himself in after Winnipeg police issued an arrest warrant on the new charges.
