DAVE CHIDLEY

It was a busy day in Leafland yesterday with 12 cuts (so long Michael Liambas) and a 3-2 shootout victory over the Broad Street Bullies in London.

It was quite the performance for off-season acquisition Colby Armstrong, scoring the tying goal in the third before ending a marathon shootout in the eleventh round. Defenceman Luke Schenn was also impressive, showing a little fire in his belly early in the preseason with a number of big collisions and a fight.

Mirtle is going to keep a running tab of camp cuts for you here.

The roster for tonight's rematch with Philly:

Forwards

Versteeg, Bozak, Kessel

Kulemin, Grabovski, MacArthur

Hamilton, Brent, Crabb

Orr, Primeau, Brown

Defence

Gunnarsson Phaneuf

Kaberle Komisarek

Aulie Gysbers

Goal

Giguere (starter)

Rynnas

Shameless self-promotion time. We started season three of the Globe Hockey Roundtable podcast yesterday. Get the episode here, and look for new material every Thursday. Got a topic we should be discussing? Drop me a line at hockey@globeandmail.com.

The Star does a nice job today of explaining the sweater number choices of the Leaf players. Of course, some sacred digits are strictly off limits.

The Star's Mark Zwolinski says Nazem Kadri is running out of chances to impress.

On a related note, Jonas Siegel at AM640 says Kadri and coach Ron Wilson had an on-ice meeting yesterday.

The Sun's Lance Hornby reports Luca Caputi was forced to have his tailor let out the rear end of every one of his suits after his off-season conditioning program. I guess that's good?

Ryan Fancey at maplestirup says Mike Komisarek is going to bounce back in a big way.
