The team that won't say die kept its improbable playoff dream alive last night, beating the Boston Bruins in a shootout that featured Nazem Kadri's cold-blooded marker.
Head coach Ron Wilson showed some serious faith in the rookie, throwing him out in a must-win situation. The kid delivered in a big way, drifting toward Bruins goalie Tim Thomas with his stick dancing over the puck before going to his backhand and firing a shot high over Thomas's glove hand. It was an exciting finish to a highly entertaining game.
So they live to play another meaningful game, this one in Ottawa against the Senators on Saturday night. Mirtle is promising to file a thing or two to this space today.
