Mike Brown will make his preseason debut for the Toronto Maple Leafs in Detroit against the Red Wings on Friday night.

It's been a frustrating training camp for Brown, whose recovery from groin surgey in June did not go as quickly as he hoped. By this week, he knew he would be able to play Friday or Saturday, when the Leafs finish the preseason with a rematch against the Wings at the Air Canada Centre.

"I feel good today so it will be tonight," Brown said after the Leafs' game-day skate on Friday.

The only other notable roster decision Friday will see Phillipe Dupuis, who is fighting with Darryl Boyce and perhaps Tyler Bozak for the third-line centre's job, skate on the top line between Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul.

Head coach Ron Wilson is one fellow who is rounding nicely into mid-season form. He blew off the media after Friday's game-day skate, putting him well-ahead of his usual schedule.
