Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma has opted to start Tomas Vokoun in goal instead of Marc-Andre Fleury for a game Saturday night against the Montreal Canadiens.
Fleury, a native of nearby Sorel, Que., nearly always starts when the Penguins visit Montreal. The last time he didn't was more than two years ago.
"Obviously there's some consideration for that, but with the schedule the ways it's been ... it's a game Tomas has been scheduled to play for a couple of weeks," said Bylsma.
The Penguins were coming off a pair of losses and were in danger of being swept on a three-game road trip. Vokoun was pulled from a 6-4 loss in Florida on Tuesday and Fleury took the loss in a 4-1 defeat at Carolina on Thursday.
Vokoun (3-3-0) has struggled this season with a 3.26 goals-against average and a .891 save percentage.
Bylsma said centre Evgeni Malkin, who was to miss a fourth game with a concussion, has worked out off the ice the last two days after doing some skating earlier in the week.
Defenceman Paul Martin, injured in the Carolina game, was to sit out. Bylsma said he's day-to-day and did not rule out Martin playing Monday against Tampa Bay.
