Police recover stolen items from Burns funeral

The public outcry over the heartless theft of hockey treasures from NHL coach Pat Burns' car after his funeral has produced results.

Montreal police say a citizen turned in two suitcases that were taken when thieves smashed into Burns' car in an outdoor parking lot earlier this week.

Const. Yannick Paradis says the man found the suitcases not far from the crime scene.

Police checked the man out and determined he was not involved in the robbery.

Thirty autographed hockey jerseys that were also stolen have not been recovered.

The sweaters were destined for a charity auction to raise money for an arena to be named after Burns.

Police say they expect results soon because the public has been steadily calling their tipline with leads.
