Amidst all the free agent signings Friday and Saturday, the New York Rangers found time to swing a trade, sending forward Brodie Dupont to the Nashville Predators in exchange for fellow forward Andreas Thuresson.

Thuresson is envisioned as a star of the future. He spent almost all of last season with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League, scoring 14 goals and 24 assists. He also set personal highs while in the AHL in assists, points, penalty minutes (41), power play goals (5) and shots (157) and tied his career-high in goals.

He also was second on the Admirals in power play goals, fourth in total goals and fifth in points.

During his four-season tenure with Milwaukee, Thuresson appeared in 277 games, scored 53 goals and 65 assists and tallied 134 penalty minutes.

The Swedish native played 22 games with the Predators in 2009-10, scoring one goal and two assists in 22 games. He also appeared in three games with the Predators this past season. He was chosen by Nashville in the fifth round (144th pick overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Dupont, meanwhile, played 72 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack/Connecticut Whale in the AHL last season, scoring 14 goals, 31 assists and racking up 78 penalty minutes. He played briefly with the Rangers, as well.
