The Ottawa Senators have signed defenceman Mark Borowiecki to a $3.3-million, three-year contract extension.

Borowiecki, 24, scored one goal and added 48 penalty minutes in 13 games with Ottawa this season.

The Ottawa native also recorded two goals and six assists along with a career-high 158 penalty minutes and a plus-14 rating in 50 games with the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators.

The Senators' fifth-round pick (139th overall) in the 2008 NHL draft, Borowiecki has one goal and 68 penalty minutes in 21 career NHL games.
