It's going to be a traditional hockey rivalry in the Clarkson Cup final.
Toronto Hockey Club and Montreal Hockey Club will square off Sunday to decide the Canadian women's hockey championship.
The two teams met in the final round-robin game Saturday, with Sarah Vaillancourt scoring twice to lead Montreal to a 2-1 victory.
Sabrina Harbec added two assists for Montreal (3-0).
"The team that's going to win (Sunday) will be the team that works the hardest," Harbec said. "Both teams have a lot of good players, so the most consistent team will be the winner."
Tessa Bonhomme replied for Toronto (2-1).
"We had a bit of a slow start at the beginning, but we picked things up as we went on," Bonhomme said. "We'll be ready to give them a good game (Sunday)."
Vaillancourt scored the winning goal in the second period when her shot from the point beat Toronto goaltender Kendra Fisher for a 2-0 Montreal lead.
The Montreal sniper, who leads the tournament with six goals, also scored in the first, converting a Harbec pass.
"We played like as a team all game," Harbec said. "We moved the puck well, everybody was working well together, and we were very disciplined."
Bonhomme made it 2-1 on the power play late in the third, but that's as close as Toronto could come.
Both teams rested their starting goalies as Montreal's Kim St-Pierre and Toronto's Sami Jo Small got the day off.
In their place, Fisher made 42 saves for Toronto while Montreal's Jenny Lavigne stopped 28 shots.
Earlier on Saturday, Jennifer Kirk scored three goals as the Brampton Hockey Club blasted the Minnesota Whitecaps 7-2.
Gillian Apps added two goals for Brampton (1-2) while Brooke Beazer and Cherie Piper had the others. Jayna Hefford added three assists.
Allie Thunstrom and Jenny Potter replied for Minnesota (0-3).
Both teams had been eliminated from championship contention.
"We wanted to end the season on a high note," Piper said. "We aren't where we wanted to be, but at the end of the day, we showed the true athletes that we are."
Apps scored her second of the game early in the third when she deflected a pass in off of a Whitecaps defender. Kirk registered her third goal with just three seconds remaining.
Potter rallied Minnesota to within a goal in the second when she fired a wrist shot past Brampton starter Kira Hurley.
But Brampton surged ahead 5-2 on goals from Kirk and Beazer through two periods.
Apps and Kirk scored first-period goals 24 seconds apart to put Brampton ahead 2-0 before Thunstrom replied for Minnesota just 11 seconds later. Piper scored later in the period to make it 3-1.
Hurley stopped 32 shots in the victory.
Minnesota's Megan Van Beusekom-Sweerin made 21 saves before giving way to Sonya Sandahl, who stopped 11-of-15 attempts in relief.
