Russia had seven unanswered goals from seven different players in a 7-1 rout of Switzerland on Saturday at the world junior hockey championship.

Damir Zhafyarov and Alexander Barabanov each had a goal and an assist for Russia (2-0-0). Andrei Mironov, Bogdan Yakimov, Vyacheslav Osnovin and Mikhail Grigorenko also scored.

Jason Fuchs scored the lone goal for Switzerland (0-2-0).

Fuchs opened the scoring at 15:02 of the first period, but it was all Russia after that.

Barbashyov tied the game at 1-1 at 16:27, then Mironov scored just over a minute later top put Russia up 2-1.

The Russians blew the game open with three more goals in the second period, then scored twice in the third to complete the rout.

Andrei Vasilevski made 25 saves for Russia.

Sascha Rochow was left in the game for all seven Russian goals. He finished with 27 saves.
