Lou Lefaive, who served twice as the director of Sport Canada and was a key builder of the Canadian sport system, died on July 4. Lefaive, 74, was the director during Sport Canada's formative years, from 1968 to 1975, and again from 1978 to 1980. He was also an executive director of the Canadian Figure Skating Association, helping launch that sport into an era of professional-style marketing while keeping an eye on grassroots development.
