She moves, she gestures, she grimaces, she yells. Watching Heather Nedohin curl is like watching someone walking up and down a sheet of ice in bare feet. She's non-stop excitable, win, lose or draw to the button.
And at this point in the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, she's got good reason to be animated.
Carrying the provincial colours into the national championship, Nedohin has experienced a wide range of emotions and results. Her rink lost two of its first three games, rebounded nicely then lost a 6-5 decision to Quebec on Wednesday.
In that game, Nedohin serenaded one of her shots by asking her teammates, "Why isn't anyone saying anything?" The crowd at the Enmax Centrium burst out in laughter. Nedohin also spiced the air with an amusing profanity.
Nedohin has lost much of her voice from all the yelling she did at the Alberta provincials. She laughingly calls herself "the Russ Howard of women's curling."
Howard is best known as the Bull Moose for his bellowing on-ice directions. Apparently, Nedohin asked Howard what he does to fix his ravaged throat.
Going mute would help, but not this week.
