Canada has a four-medal day at Winter X Games

Canada's Mark McMorris competes during the men's Snowboard Slopestyle Finals at the FIS Snowboard World Championships in Stoneham, Quebec, January 18, 2013.

Canada's Mark McMorris failed to defend his title in the men's snowboard big air final at the X Games after being nudged out of the top spot by a perfect score.

The Regina native finished tied with Norway's Torstein Horgmo with a two-run score of 94 points Friday, but Horgmo nailed a perfect run on his last jump to score 50 points and beat McMorris for his third gold at the event.

McMorris will get another shot at gold Saturday when he competes in the snowboard slopestyle event. He finished first after qualifying on Thursday.

McMorris's silver capped a four-medal day for Canada that featured a gold medal by Louis-Felix Paradis in the early men's snowboard street final.

Paradis, from Quebec City, scored a five-run total of 75 points, well ahead of runner-up Dylan Alito who finished with 62.

In the women's ski superpipe final, Calgary's Rosalind Groenewoud won silver with a score of 86.66 behind winner Maddie Bowman of the United States (91.33).

Groenewoud, the reigning FIS world champion, went into the event as the defending champion but fell on her final run.

Megan Gunning, also from Calgary, took bronze with an 85.00 while Edmonton's Keltie Hansen was just off the podium in fourth with 84.33.
