Reigning world curling champ Glenn Howard prevails in all-star skins final

Reigning world champion Glenn Howard of Coldwater, Ont., defeated defending champion Kevin Koe of Edmonton in the final of the Dominion All-Star Curling Skins on Sunday.

Playing with an all-star team featuring John Morris, Carter Rycroft and Steve Gould, Howard picked up a total of $51,500 in prize money at the event, including $22,000 the final.

Howard, who also won in the event in 2001, earned $14,500 in Saturday's semi-final and took home a $15,000 bonus for winning the tournament.

Koe's all-star team included B.J. Neufeld, Brent Laing and Ben Hebert. He earned $20,000 from the final for a total of $38,500 in prize money over the two-day event.

Koe stole the opening skin of Sunday's match worth $2,000 and took the $5,000 skin with the hammer in the third end following a carry-over.

Howard ended Koe's shutout with skins in the fourth ($3,000) and sixth ($10,000) ends and secured his victory with a $9,000 skin in the seventh. A carry-over in the eighth end resulted in a draw to the button finish, which saw Koe win the $13,000 skin.
