Saudi Arabia's Prince Abdullah Al Saud rides Davos during the equestrian individual jumping second qualifier in Greenwich Park at the London 2012 Olympic Games on Sunday.

When you come to the Greenwich Park equestrian venue, you had better be on your best behaviour. There are royals everywhere.

Last week, it was Zara Phillips, the grand daughter of Queen Elizabeth. She competed in Olympic dressage – Zara, not the Queen.

This week, it's been Prince Abdullah Al Saud, the grandson of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. Prince Abdullah is competing in the jumping event. With some slick horsemanship, he had his nation poised Monday for a medal in the team event. The Saudis were ranked first after the opening qualifier, led by Prince Abdullah and his clear round aboard Davos. Combined, the four-man Saudi Arabian team had just three faults.

"I am very proud of the Saudi team and I wish them all the best of luck," Prince Abdullah told reporters. "I also like horse racing and follow all of my father's and grandfather's horses."

The Olympic course here is something of a home-coming for Prince Abdullah. He was born in London and was thrilled to have worked his way over so many British-theme jumps in a torrential downpour, no less.

"I cannot describe my feelings I am so happy," he said "What with the weather, the London bus and the Tower Bridge (jumps), I felt like I was sight-seeing."

These are Prince Abdullah's second Olympics.
