Jessica Zelinka was back at practice Tuesday after spending time in a Calgary hospital for a wasp bite.
The 31-year-old heptathlete, who also won the 100-metre hurdles at the Canadian Olympic trials last month, was bitten Sunday night and suffered an allergic reaction. Her coach said this has happened before.
"It's happened in the past, in Arizona," Les Gramantik explained. "She gets bitten and her face swells up, You almost can't see her eyes. She trained (Tuesday morning) and we're almost back to normal."
Zelinka is considered a medal contender at the London Olympics. Four years ago in Beijing, she finished fifth and recently improved on her Canadian points record. At the Canadian Olympic trials here, she also beat Olympic veterans Priscilla Lopes-Schliep and Perdita Felicien in the hurdles.
