Impact send defender Tyson Wahl to Rapids

The Montreal Impact have traded defender Tyson Wahl to the Colorado Rapids in the latest of series of roster moves by the expansion Major League Soccer club.

The Impact received an international roster spot for 2014 from the Rapids for Wahl, who was acquired in a trade with Seattle in November. He played in 11 games for Montreal at centre back or on the left side.

"We want to thank Tyson for his time in Montreal," said Impact head coach Jesse Marsch in a statement. "He was very committed and showed a lot of leadership to this organization. We wish him the best of luck with the Rapids."

The club had picked up a 2013 international roster spot from Chivas USA last week in exchange for the rights to defender Bobby Burling, who never played a game for Montreal.

The Impact currently are using all of their nine international spots.

Earlier this week Montreal loaned midfielder Bryan Arguez to FC Edmonton of the NASL and dealt forward Justin Braun to Real Salt lake for a condition SuperDraft pick.

The moves help make room for new arrivals including former Italian international defender Alessandro Nesta and Swiss-Italian defender Dennis Iapichino.

Montreal plays its next game Saturday against the Union in Philadelphia.
