2010 world cup

1. Puma: Journey of football

This beautiful spot feels like Africa itself. Puma is not an official World Cup sponsor, so there's no mention of the tournament itself, but that hardly matters.

2. ESPN: USA v. England

This spot pops like the Revolutionary War. It's all pomp and fight and so American -- in a good way -- and our favourite of ESPN's many fabulous spots

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/85AeTKyk-To&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/85AeTKyk-To&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

3. Carlsberg: Team Talk

This one reminds us it's about more than just winning a game, especially when it comes to England.

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/66OuJZGDCHE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/66OuJZGDCHE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

4. ESPN: One Game Changes Everything [With Bono]

It's hard to argue with another offering from ESPN, given the slick production and anthemic feel of this early World Cup commerical.

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/vwzTTdEIrvs&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/vwzTTdEIrvs&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

5. Visa: Football evolution

Visa's spot gets full marks for originality and humour.

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/5MHL1l_n9Xs&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/5MHL1l_n9Xs&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

6. Pepsi: Oh Africa

Pepsi's spot has everything -- location, celebrity, real people and charming kids, plus it's a clever idea that works, with a great kicker.

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/AiB3683PztQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/AiB3683PztQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

7. Budweiser: Swap

Leave it to Budweiser to produce the funniest spot, and for a while, you're not sure just how far it's going to go.

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/i2w-ftSFROg&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/i2w-ftSFROg&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

8. Nike: Write the future

There's not much to add about this much discussed spot, easily the most viewed 2010 World Cup ad to date. Some people think it's brilliant and epic, and others think it's bloated and sterile. You be the judge.

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/idLG6jh23yE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/idLG6jh23yE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

9. Coca Cola: Goal celebrations

Another popular one, this has a great old-school feel and is full of fun moments. We also love the Roger Milla shout-out.

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/-M3Q54rPjQw&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/-M3Q54rPjQw&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

10. Sony: Bravia [U.K.]

This lesser known ad from Sony U.K. is sweet as can be, and makes us all feel like kids on the soccer pitch.
