The numbers for Toronto's 5-21-8 MLS season in 2012 are shocking, adding to its history of failure:

— With 23 points, TFC finished 30 points out of the playoffs.

— The point total (23) is the lowest in the club's six-year history. The previous low was the 2007 expansion total of 25.

— Toronto posted franchise worsts in wins (five), losses (21), points (23), goals against (62) and winless streak (14).

— Toronto opened the season with a league-record nine straight losses. It finished with a 14-game (0-10-4) winless streak.

— TFC was outscored 16-8 in the final 15 minutes of games.

— Toronto conceded three or more goals nine times.

— TFC was restricted to one goal or less 25 times.

— Toronto was shut out 10 times

— Take away a three-game win streak in July and Toronto went 2-21-8 in its other 31 games.

— TFC were led out by five different captains this season (Torsten Frings, Darren O'Dea, Terry Dunfield, Richard Eckersley and Julian de Guzman).

— Toronto has finished last in the Eastern Conference in three of its six seasons (2007, '08 and '12).

— Toronto's career record in MLS is 45-88-55.
