The leading candidates to become the next Toronto Blue Jays manager include former Washington manager Jim Riggleman and former Colorado manager Jim Tracy according to a report by U.S. sports broadcaster ESPN.

The club has been without a manager since John Farrell departed for the Boston Red Sox on October 21st.

Riggleman, who resigned from the Nationals in June 2011 after a contract dispute, managed 12 seasons in the majors also coaching San Diego, Chicago and Seattle

Tracy, who resigned on Oct. 7, after the Rockies compiled a club-worst 64-98 2012 regular season finish, has 11 seasons under his belt in the majors also managing the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Blue Jays have also contacted Los Angeles Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach and Arizona Diamondbacks third base coach Matt Williams about coaching the vacancy.

The list of candidates is also believed to include current Toronto bench coach Don Wakamatsu and Cleveland Indians bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr.

The Blue Jays made headlines earlier in the week for a proposed blockbuster deal that will bring Miami shortstop Jose Reyes, starting pitchers Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle to Toronto.

The deal is still pending approval from Major League Baseball.

The club is also moving towards completing a $16-million (U.S.) deal for left-fielder Melky Cabrera according reports.
